On April 22, 2008, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors established an annual Green Leadership Award to showcase the diverse local achievements in protecting and improving our environment. Throughout Los Angeles County, residents, businesses, nonprofit organizations, community groups and cities develop and employ innovative strategies and initiatives to enhance our environmental sustainability. The Green Leadership Award is designed to recognize innovative and creative solutions involving environmental issues to create opportunities to engage and inspire others about the strategies that make every day Earth Day.
Alongside Duvivier Architects’ Integrating Water/Architecture, Food Forward’s Distribution of Farmers Market Produce to the Hungry, and the Department of Public Social Services’ (DPSS) Toy Loan Recycling Initiative, DEHSART’s Antelope Valley Illegal Dumping Eco-Art was honored in the resident category “whose efforts, on their own or through an organization, empowers their community and society toward ecological restoration and a sustainable future. Their leadership, foresight, and innovation inspire others, leading to significant achievements through individual effort and moving others to action.”
We were very proud to represent the fifth district, and to engage with other teams working on environmental efforts through incredibly inspirational programs!
A special thank you to the City of Palmdale’s Armin Gomez, and AV Media’s Casey Driver for their support throughout the DEHSART program and during the awards ceremony!
